Biography

Shanawaz chose the medium of film to express his creativity because he finds the idea of bringing those experiences to life for people they may not have met, while presenting them in a believable, a way that allows for a realistic, extremely fascinating connection.

Since early childhood, Shanawaz has been a keen observer of human interaction who honed his ability to extract the essence of a character/situation to make it relatable. He intuitively looks to other elements to help him form a healthy image, be it colors, art or music and this is reflected in all of his frames.

'405' is his first graphic novel-inspired short, which is simply a montage of the day in the life of an unnamed man, tackling topics like freedom, love, and loneliness. Now displayed on Mubi.
